1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the QuickConnect Windows application, its Configuration Tool, the QuickConnect licensing and activation service, QuickConnect purchase and registration pages, and related customer support provided by Nevonix LLC. In this policy, “QuickConnect,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to QuickConnect and Nevonix LLC as appropriate.
QuickConnect allows users to connect to and control Windows PCs, transfer files, configure local and remote server entries, and activate licensed features. Some connections may be made directly between participating computers, while others may be routed through a QuickConnect server selected by the user.
This policy does not replace the privacy policies of Microsoft, Stripe, an internet service provider, a user selected QuickConnect server operator, or another third party service. Those parties handle information under their own policies.
2. Information we handle
2.1 Purchase, registration, and license information
When a QuickConnect license is purchased, registered, activated, checked, or deactivated, Nevonix may receive and store information such as:
- Name and email address associated with the purchase or activation
- QuickConnect license ID, edition, license quantity, and activation status
- Purchase status, amount, currency, and transaction reference information
- Machine fingerprint or PC ID used to distinguish activated computers
- Computer name, QuickConnect version, and activation timestamps
- IP address and ordinary server request or diagnostic information
QuickConnect sends a temporary verification code to the email address used for activation. Verification codes are intended for one activation attempt and normally expire after approximately ten minutes.
2.2 Information stored on your computer
QuickConnect stores configuration information locally on the Windows computer so the application can operate. Depending on the settings you choose, this may include:
- The display name assigned to the computer
- The local listening port and incoming files folder
- The local QuickConnect access password
- Names, domain names or IP addresses, ports, and passwords for configured servers
- Registered client information and connection preferences
- License files and local activation status
QuickConnect passwords are stored using application safeguards that include encryption. Local configuration data is controlled from the Configuration Tool and Windows. Some settings may be retained across application updates or reinstalls so an existing configuration can continue to operate.
2.3 Remote session and transfer information
When QuickConnect is used, it may process screen images, keyboard and mouse input, clipboard text, remote control commands, computer and network identifiers, files, folders, file names, and transfer status information. This information is processed to provide the connection or transfer requested by the user.
2.4 Payment information
QuickConnect purchases are processed through Stripe or another identified secure payment provider. Nevonix does not store full payment card numbers, card security codes, or complete payment credentials. We receive transaction status and other limited billing information needed to issue and manage a license.
2.5 Support communications
If you contact Nevonix for support, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, license ID, PC ID, screenshots, diagnostic information, and the contents of your support request.
2.6 Website and service logs
Our websites and online services may receive standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, operating system, request time, requested page, and service response information. Payment providers and other website services may use cookies or similar technologies under their own privacy policies.
3. How we use information
We use information described in this policy to:
- Process purchases and create, activate, verify, and deactivate licenses
- Enforce the number of computers authorized by a license
- Send activation verification codes and service communications
- Provide remote desktop, remote control, and file transfer functionality
- Save and apply the configuration selected by the user
- Respond to support requests and diagnose technical problems
- Protect QuickConnect, its users, and Nevonix services from fraud, abuse, and security threats
- Maintain, improve, and test the reliability of QuickConnect
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable agreements
Nevonix does not sell personal information collected through QuickConnect. We do not use the contents of remote desktop sessions, clipboard transfers, or transferred files for advertising or targeted marketing.
4. Remote connections and transferred files
4.1 Direct and server assisted connections
QuickConnect may establish a direct connection between computers or route a connection through the QuickConnect server selected by the user. A selected server necessarily processes the encrypted connection traffic and connection metadata needed to route the session.
If a user selects a server operated by another person or organization, that server operator may be able to observe network metadata and is responsible for its own systems and privacy practices. Users should select only servers they trust and are authorized to use.
4.2 Session content
QuickConnect is designed to encrypt remote access and file transfer traffic while it is transmitted. The QuickConnect licensing service does not need the contents of a remote desktop session or transferred file to activate or validate a license, and those contents are not intentionally stored in Nevonix licensing records.
QuickConnect and participating computers may temporarily buffer information in memory as required to display a remote screen, process commands, or complete a file transfer. A receiving computer stores transferred files in the incoming files folder selected by its user.
4.3 User authorization
Users control the passwords assigned to their computers and configured servers. If a requesting computer does not provide the correct password, QuickConnect can prompt the person at the receiving computer to approve or reject the requested connection or transfer.
6. Security, storage, and retention
6.1 Security
QuickConnect uses safeguards designed to protect information, including AES encryption for remote access traffic, HTTPS for licensing and purchase communications, encrypted storage for QuickConnect passwords, digitally signed software, and access controls for Nevonix systems. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users are responsible for choosing strong passwords, protecting their computers, limiting access to configuration files, keeping Windows and QuickConnect updated, and connecting only to computers and servers they trust and are authorized to use.
6.2 Retention
Nevonix retains purchase, license, activation, security, and support records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide licenses, prevent misuse, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and support customers. Retention periods depend on the type of information and the reason it is maintained.
Local QuickConnect configuration remains on the applicable computer until it is changed, reset, or removed through QuickConnect or Windows. Some configuration may be preserved across an update or reinstall when that behavior is needed to maintain the user’s setup.
6.3 International processing
Nevonix is based in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States or other locations where Nevonix service providers operate. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from the laws where a user resides.
7. Your choices and rights
QuickConnect provides several controls over information and access:
- You may configure QuickConnect without activating a license, although licensed features remain unavailable.
- You may deactivate the current computer from its QuickConnect license.
- You may change or remove server entries, passwords, ports, and incoming file settings.
- You may approve or reject prompted remote connection and transfer requests.
- You may stop using QuickConnect and remove it through Windows.
- You may contact Nevonix to request access to, correction of, or deletion of eligible licensing and support information.
Some records may be retained when necessary for legal, accounting, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or license enforcement purposes. We may need to verify a requester’s identity before fulfilling a privacy request.
7.1 Children’s privacy
QuickConnect is a general purpose computer utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through the QuickConnect licensing service.
7.2 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when QuickConnect, our services, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page or communicated through another reasonable method.
